Founder & Consecrator: Luang Por Sakorn Manunyo

Luang Por Sakorn Manunyo, birth name Sakorn Phairam, was born on Tuesday, February 3, 1938, in Ban Tai Thung, Nong Bua Subdistrict, Ban Khai District, Rayong Province. He was the sixth of eight siblings.

From a young age, he closely followed the activities at Wat Nong Grub. Upon turning 20, he was ordained on June 4, 1958, at Wat Nong Grub, receiving the Dhamma name "Manunyo." His preceptors were:

• Phra Khru Jantharotai (Luang Por Ding) of Wat Nong Grub as the Upachaya (Principal Preceptor)
• Phra Athikan Hom of Wat Nong Sim as the Kammaphibat (Ceremony Assistant)
• Phra Athikan Saeng of Wat Nong Grub as the Anatthasamnan (Witness)

The greatest turning point in his spiritual path was when he became a disciple of Luang Pu Tim Isariko of Wat Lahan Rai—renowned across Thailand for the famed Phra Khun Paen Pong Prai Kumarn amulets. Through humble dedication and sharp intellect, Luang Por Sakorn learned the sacred arts thoroughly, especially the creation and consecration of Prai Kumarn powders—becoming one of the few monks to fully master this art directly under his teacher.

He also studied under Luang Pu Peng Sasano of Wat Lahan Yai, a spiritual companion of Luang Pu Tim who specialized in inscribing the powerful “Na-like scythe” yantra, known for invulnerability magic.

Luang Por Sakorn used all his training to develop Wat Nong Grub and assist the local community. He passed away peacefully on September 18, 2013, at the age of 75 with 55 years in the sangha.

Background: Wat Nong Grub, Rayong

Located in Nong Bua Subdistrict, Ban Khai District, Rayong, Wat Nong Grub began as a small local temple.
