Rian Ruesi Chiwok Hlang Pra Pikanes Sethee Hmeun Lan, Jivaka Rishi (the Buddha's Physician), with Ganesha Elephant God on rear face, in Nuea Loha Rom Dam, Sacred Metallic Chanuan with Black Oily Surface Finish, from the great from Luang Phu Key Gidtiyano, of Wat Sri Lamyong, in Surin. The Rishi Jivaka is represented on the front face seated on an elevated platform seated in the Bhumispara Mudra of subduing Mara (ignorance) calling witness to earth (elements of Ayurvedic Natural Medicines), steadfastness (imperturbability).
Luang Phu Key held immense fame and popularity all around South east Asia during the 2545-2555 'Golden Era' of modern amulets, when the Thai amulet scene began to expand worldwide and reach western shores on an incremental scale, as many foreigners visited Thailand and developed interest in Thai Buddhism, Thai Occult Sorcerer monks, and Buddha Magic Niche Topics, such as Sak Yant Thai Temple Tattoos, Mythological himapant Animals, Thai Deities, Animist Talismans and Practices, and Prai Necromancy. Luang Phu Key has made a large number of sell-out editions during the golden era, but his amulets are now far and feqw between to come across, despite having made large numbers due to worldwide popularity in many of the later editions.
This amulet is from an earlier edition from the year 2551 BE Traimas (end of rainy season), 'Sethee Hmeun Lan' 10,000 Millionaires edition ceremony. Pra Ruesi Chiwok Gomartapaj was the Buddha's Physician, and Guru of all Healers and Physicians, imbued with the power of 'Pongan Roke Pai Khai Jeb' (Prevent Illnesses and Heal Existing Ones), with Ganesha on the rear face for auspicious improvements in various areas of life, and removal of obstacles.
Jivaka Kamaurabacca or Jivaka Kamarabhrtya (Kamaurabacca meaning “fed by a prince” and Kamarabhrtya alluding to expertise is medical care of infants/children) was born to an exceptionally beautiful and most sought after courtesan who upon knowing of her pregnancy discarded the infant out of fear that her status as a very high priced maiden should be affected. It was with Jivaka’s immensely stored up good fortune through his rounds of Samsara that he would be found near by a one Prince Abhaya who was a son of King Bimbisara, and because it was seemingly amazing that he should be found alive, he was named “Jivaka” meaning alive and moved by compassion was raised in royal care.
Once Jivaka began to reach the age of reason, he started to think for himself of what he wanted his craft to be. Stemming from his gift of Loving Kindness and Compassion, he decided with his higher intellect that it would be beneficial for him and future rebirths (should there be any) that he should take up a practice that helped rather than harmed, and in doing so denied the job of raising animals (which may cause harm i.e. slaughter) and instead took up studying Ayurvedic medicine for the benefit of others, and so continuing his path of practicing Metta Mahaniyom and as reward Maha Sanaeh attraction.
Jivaka became a very well renowned physician who treated many important people including kings and other royalty, but most importantly Jivaka was sought out through the Buddha Sakyamuni’s Divine Eye to be his personal physician. Jivaka realizing the benefit of giving alms and venerating the Triple Gem, had a monastery built on his grounds where Jivaka himself attained to the first stage of Arahantship (Sotapanna). Sometime later the Great King Ajatasattu was lead to the Buddha by Jivaka and through right understanding and effort became a devotee of the Buddha Dhamma and was responsible for establishing the first Buddhist Council after The Buddha’s Maha Parinibanna.
Around 2 centuries after the Buddha’s death (India’s First Buddhist King) King Ashoka sent emissaries to other countries to disseminate the Buddha Dhamma and of those emissaries was one Sohn Uttar Sthavira who was sent to Thailand in 228 BCE which began to establish itself and did so some 800 years later and then officially as the National Religion of Thailand in the 13th century. It is believed in Thailand that Buddhist monks brought medical knowledge from the lineage of Jivaka and as such he is revered as the Father of Thai Medicine.
The Jivaka Rishi amulet venerates the most auspicious physician in Buddhist and especially Thai Theravada Buddhist history, for its immense power in Metta Mahiniyom and Maha Sanaeh as well as an object of Samadhi concentration and wellness in the Citta mind/heart connection that urges the possessor to exude outwards excellence and control in the Brahma Viharas as well as commanding the same fortune toward the owner.
Kata Bucha Ruesi Chiwok Gomarapaj
Lord Ganesha
Ganesha or, as we say in Thai ‘Pra Pikanes’ is the Deity for removal of obstacles and attainment of success. Pra Pikanes has many different forms, with different meanings. he may have four, six, eight, twelve or even fourteen arms, but almost never two arms, this being a Tabu. Pra Pikanes may carry any of a number of 57 different Cosmic weapons or regalia in his hands. Ganesha has many different Emanations and Postures, but the most Common Traditional Posture of Ganesha, is four armed with Whip Goad, Ritual Axe, an Om in the palm of raised hand, and Fruits as consumable offerings.
This Posture and combination induces not only the removal of obstacles and success, but also wealth and plentiful treasures and possessions and well being. The hand wielding an axe, is a symbol of the retrenchment of all desires, bearers of pain and suffering. With this axe Ganesha can both strike and repel obstacles. The goad restrains all inner and outer enemies. Ganesha, has four arms, which symbolize his status as the universal ruler and establish his power over the four categories of beings – those who can live only in water, those who can live in water and on earth, those who can live only on earth and those who can fly in air.
The Significance of four :
It was God Ganesha who instituted the four castes and the four Vedas. One hymn in Sri Bhagavat Tattva , says: ‘In heaven, this child will establish the predominance over gods, on earth over men, in the nether world over anti-gods and serpents. Ganesha causes the four ruling forces of the elements to move, for which he has four arms. You can use the Chants to Ganesha (Pikanes) to epower the potion before use, and to beseech blessings, to attract, and improve your profession, charm, wealth, status, and remove any obstacle that may be preventing you from succeeding in your goals, be they amorous, financial, professional or social goals. Ganesha helps you in all these areas of life.
